The Yarrabah symbol of the horse and motto “Rise to the occasion” …
In 1846 a lead, silver and zinc mine was established at Yarrabah (adjacent to the Mundijong townsite). Although the mine closed the following year, due to the shaft being flooded, it re-opened on a number occasions over the next 60 years. The site is generally recognised as Western Australia's first mining operation.
The Court family farm called “Yarrabah” provided us with the incentive to recognise our Foundation Chairperson, Ken Court, by naming one of our Houses after their farm.
The House symbol of the Horse is reflective of the thriving equine industry in the area.
The motto is referred to the two movements in the classical dressage, the Levade and the Pesade and was chosen to inspire our students to deal with difficult situations in an intelligent and positive manner.
